Difeee/U-Hearts program
Difeee volunteers participated in "U-Hearts" program for China mountainous children. Difeee enthusiastically donated studying books to the schools, so that students have an opportunity to read different types of books and broaden thinking.
On 30th November 2013, Difeee volunteers started early in the morning, after more than eight hours drive away, Difeee volunteers finally reached its first elementary school. To improve the learning environment for the students, the school building was rebuilt from fund-raising money by a group of good-hearted people.Seeing the new school building, as well as the new library donated by Difeee, all students finally have the chance for their first book. Everyone smiled!
Unfortunately, China has only subsidized elementary to junior high school students. School tuition fees and living expenses are the biggest problem affecting their learning because their parents are mostly making only a few thousand RMB a year. So gifted and honor students tend to abandon their studies because of financial problems?
At 10pm, everyone was tired but also excited to visit a secondary school. Difeee volunteers had the opportunity to meet with students who are applying for scholarship. To get to understand them more, we asked about their family, reading and academic situations in which two students started to shed tears .
The next day, we also conducted home visits to understand more about the living environments of the students and how hard it is for them to continue their education.
After the two-day visit, everyone shared their experience and feelings. In the coming future, Difeee volunteers will continue to serve more people in need, so that more people can benefit.
